With major planting delays this year and then what seemed to be constant rain in many areas across the Corn Belt, there were acres meant for corn that didn't get planted. Final planting dates for corn have come and gone across the Midwest. Now growers have to make the decision: risk planting corn after the final planting date, take prevented planting payments, switch the acres to soybeans or even plant cover crops. What will be your choice for corn acres that didn't get planted this year? I'm planting corn after the final planting date. I am (or am going to) taking prevented planting acres.
