In his keynote speech this morning at a Federal Communications Commission workshop on 5G wireless technology, pioneering researcher Theodore (Ted) Rappaport will announce that New York University is making its channel model simulator and measurement data free and open to all—potentially short-circuiting years of millimeter wave (mmWave) development time for companies hoping to vastly increase the transfer of data through the air.

During the course of sewer construction on Hawthorne Boulevard between SE 45th and 46th avenues, crews suspected a leaking water line and notified the Portland Water Bureau. After investigating, the Water Bureau discovered a leaking water main at the intersection of SE 46th and Hawthorne and are currently in the process of correcting the issue. The repairs will not affect water services in the area.
