June 10 Crop Progress: Corn Planting Close to Average Completion, Soybean Planting Still Behind

As prevented planting dates come and go across the Corn Belt, corn growers across the U.S. have planted 95% of the 2013 corn crop as of June 10. Source: U.S. Department of Agriculture Struggling all season to catch up, corn planting reached 95% completion as of June 9, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) Crop Progress report released June 10. A year ago, 100% of the corn crop had been planted, compared with 98% for the 2008-2012 average in the 18 top corn-producing states. read more
