The Astrophysics Group of SRON and the Department of Astrophysics of the Radboud University have a vacancy for a Postdoc fm SRONs mission is to bring about breakthroughs in international space research. The institute develops pioneering technology and advanced space instruments, and uses them to pursue fundamental astrophysical research, Earth science and exoplanetary research. SRON invites applications for this 21year position funded by ERC Consolidator Grant number 647208 to Dr. Peter Jonker. The postdoc will work in the group of Dr. Peter Jonker. The endgoal of the work is to determine whether intermediatemass black holes exist and if so what their mass distribution is. The employed tools include followup of Gaiadiscovered transients using optical imaging and spectroscopy. The postdoc will be based in Utrecht and part of the time in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The postdoc is encouraged to work up to a quarter of the time on research projects devised by herhimself. Employment conditions Employment of this fulltime position is by NWO The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research and will be for a period of 2 years and can be extended by 1 year if both parties agree. The salary will be in accordance with the salary scales of NWO with a maximum of 3.922, gross per month on a fulltime basis highly depending on education and experience. NWO has good secondary employment conditions such as An end of year bonus of 8,33 of the gross yearly salary 42 days of vacation leave a year on fulltime basis An excellent pension scheme Options for additional personal development Excellent facilities for parental leave A holiday allowance of 8 of the gross yearly salary. The Astrophysics Group of SRON and the Astronomy Department of the Radboud University Nijmegen have a joint vacancy for a Postdoc fm Vac.nr. 1145 SRONs mission is to bring about breakthroughs in international space research. The institute develops pioneering technology and advanced space instruments, and uses them to pursue fundamental astrophysical research, Earth science and exoplanetary research. SRON and the Radboud University Nijmegen invite applications for this 2year position which is in part funded by NOVA. The postdoc will work in the group of Dr. Peter Jonker. The endgoal of the work is to determine how black holes are formed. The employed tools include timeresolved optical and nearinfrared spectroscopy which will lead to a better understanding of the distribution of black hole masses and black hole space velocities. Data are to a large extent part of the Galactic Bulge Survey that has important collaborators in the U.S., U.K., Chile and Canada.
