Woodside Petroleum takes up more acreage in Myanmar with BG

Woodside Petroleum has emerged as the largest holder of exploration acreage in Myanmar's promising Rakhine Basin, formalising contracts with the government that will give it large interests in four additional permits. Woodside said that its stakes in offshore blocks AD-2, AD-5, A-4 and A-7 increased its exploration acreage to about 46,000 square kilometres.

Woodside Petroleum's annual sustainability report has revealed the surprising news that seven employees were sacked for "fraud-related" incidents last year. Woodside Petroleum forced to shut Pluto LNG plant as rig comes adrift

Woodside Petroleum has been forced to shut down its $15 billion Pluto liquefied natural gas plant in Western Australia after a drilling rig was torn from its moorings in a cyclone and drifted dangerously close to flowlines at the offshore field. Pluto is Woodside's biggest single production asset and was the largest contributor to earnings last year, and the shutdown could impact production, profits and dividends, depending on how long it lasts, said UBS analyst Nik Burns.
