Last month, I predicted that U.S. auto sales would be very strong for the month of September, and that's exactly what we got yesterday, with the "big three" automakers all delivering double-digit growth. Fiat Chrysler was the weakest of the three, with sales in-line to slightly below expectations, but notching 13.6% growth and making this the 66th month in a row of car sales growth for the company.

DesRosiers Automotive Consultants says demand for light trucks boosted auto sales 3.7 per cent last month compared with a year ago, making it the best September on record. Canadians snatched up a total of 174,337 light vehicles in September, up from 168,041 in the same period last year.
