Alberta forest fire forces evacuation of oilsands facilities

Cenovus Energy and Canadian Natural Resources Limited have evacuated their facilities within the Cold Lake Air Weapons range, close to Alberta's eastern border, due to an out-of-control forest fire in the area. "Yesterday, CNRL evacuated their plant facilities in the Primrose area and then, last night at 11 o'clock, we advised Cenovus in Foster Creek that it would be a good precautionary move to evacuate their personnel as well," said Leslie Lozinski, spokeswoman for the province's environmental and resource ministry.

Alberta's energy sector will form a new committee to work closely with Rachel Notley and her NDP government, says the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. "Albertans voted for change and we are prepared to work with the new government to explore and embrace the best change possible," CAPP president Tim McMillan said in a news release.

Realtors are warning potential home-buyers about dozens of online ads that appear to be incredible deals on foreclosed or distressed homes in Alberta. The listings are posted on Kijiji by a company called HomeForSale 66 -but there's no record of such a company being registered in Calgary or Alberta.
