The Metropolitan Transportation Authority's inspector general says Metro-North maintenance crews get little or no supervision and fail to document their work. The New York Post reports Monday that the transit agency's inspector general also says maintenance crews sometimes don't even receive assignments.

Tickets At Metro-North Railroad Crossings Already Surpass Last Year's Total

Metropolitan Transportation Authority police have written more summonses for driving violations during the first three months of 2015 than all of last year at railroad crossings, according to a spokesman for the MTA. MTA police issued 137 summonses at Metro-North grade crossings so far this year and 189 at Long Island Railroad grade crossings, for a total of 326 summonses, according to MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan.

NEW YORK – The construction of a midpoint yard for the Port Jervis line isn't exactly in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's proposed 2015-19 capital plan after all. Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti surprised Susan Metzger at a committee meeting Monday by telling her money for the yard – originally excluded from the $32 billion plan – was indeed in it now.

Harrison Will Build Affordable Housing Next To Metro-North Station

Facing increasing pressure to build affordable housing in Harrison, town and county officials have agreed to include seven low-cost units near the Metro-North railroad station. A 143-unit housing complex is planned on 3.3 acres owned by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority -- now a train station parking lot -- at the corner of Halstead and Harrison avenues.
