Exxon Mobil Corp has rejected a contract offer from the United Steelworkers local chapter representing hourly workers at the company's Beaumont, Texas, refinery and renewed its offer of a six-year contract, a union official said on Wednesday. Exxon has been campaigning for a longer agreement with the Beaumont workforce, offering first a five-year agreement and then a six-year pact.

A proposal for a new Kia Dealership and Ford Quick Lube and Service Center has earned its first stamps of approval. The Plan Commission on April 7 recommended approval of a an amendment to the comprehensive land use plan, as well as a rezoning request to allow commercial development rather than industrial as it was zoned.

Bradken rejects takeover proposal

Mining equipment and rolling stock supplier Bradken has received a takeover offer from private equity group Pacific Equity Partners and US-based Koch Industries valuing the company at $427 million. Bradken says it received an unsolicited indicative non-binding proposal to acquire the company at $2.50 per share, by way of a scheme of arrangement, on April 1. "The board of Bradken considered the proposal and determined that it does not represent fair value and accordingly determined not to engage further."
