Natural News applauds FDA for requiring calorie labeling... so why not label GMOs, too?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has said it will adopt new regulations requiring chain restaurants, movie houses and some other food retailers that sell prepared foods to add calorie labels to their menus and menu boards rules that will apply only to chains with 20 or more restaurants. But the government's food regulation agency still won't act to require food makers who use genetically modified ingredients and organisms to add that information to labels.

Starbucks says wrongly accused of fighting Vermont GMO labeling law

Starbucks Corp said on Monday it has been wrongly accused in online petitions of supporting a Grocery Manufacturers Association lawsuit to block Vermont's GMO labeling law. Petitions posted to websites such as Sumofus.org and Care2.com accused Starbucks of teaming with fellow GMA member Monsanto Co to kill GMO labeling in Vermont, which in May became the first U.S. state to pass a mandatory GMO labeling law that did not require another state to go first.
