JOHANNESBURG The global beverages giant Coca-Cola Company, world's second largest brewing company and one of the largest bottlers of Coca-Cola drinks SABMiller plc and Gutsche Family Investments , the majority shareholders in Coca-Cola Sabco, have reached an agreement to combine the bottling operations of their non-alcoholic ready-to-drink beverages businesses in southern and east Africa to create Coca-Cola Beverages Africa. The new bottler, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa , will serve 12 high-growth countries accounting for approximately 40 percent of all Coca-Cola beverage volumes in Africa , SABMiller said in a statement Thursday.

Britain's biggest drugmaker, GlaxoSmithKline Plc, fired an executive from its South African unit for refusing to appear for a performance review, which was called a week after he complained of racial discrimination in the workplace, Bloomberg reported, citing company documents. The executive, who was fired on Oct. 3, refused to attend the company's quarterly performance improvement plan, saying the program was designed to force him out, Bloomberg said on Thursday.
