The owners of a Convent refinery say a worker trying to disassemble a scaffold apparently started a fire that damaged a diesel production unit on Feb. 24. Motiva Enterprises LLC told the state Department of Environmental Quality that the worker's hammer missed the scaffold and broke a half-inch-wide tube on the production unit.
