A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Ground Systems Engineer for a team leading role with Astrium in Portsmouth. This is a central role on a project deploying the ground control segment for a very high profile satellite constellation This role forms part of the Galileo Ground Control Segment AIV Assembly, Integration and Verification team. The team is currently deployed across two sites one in Germany and one in Italy and is undertaking the ground segment integration and verification in preparation for live satellite operations. The role is based out of the Portsmouth office but will require the successful candidate to be seconded abroad to Germany for at least the first two years. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Overall responsibility for the execution of Test Campaigns Coordination of the test team for test runs Technical leading and contribution to the development of test cases Organisation of the configuration of the applicationsnetwork if necessary Overall responsibility for the raising of anomaly reports Supporting NonConformance Review Boards Chairing of Test Readiness Review meetings for the Test Campaigns Reporting to the AIV Manager Responsible for update and maintenance of test procedures, test data and tools Support supplier and site manager with new installations of element sw or hw EADS Recruitment Centre Applications should be made via the EADS website. Strong experience in Flight Operations Systems, Mission Planning systems or Flight Dynamics Experience in running the whole cycle of a test campaign. The ability to assimilate the big picture and liaise technically at all levels is central to this role as is an understanding of the lifecycle of space mission projects and the ability to interface with customers, industrial team partners and subcontractors. Summary An opportunity for an experienced SAR engineer to work in a coordination and management role on an operational SAR data processing system. This a fixed term contract, covering maternity leave. Objective To provide technical support to the existing VEGA team and on operations tasks and data processing development activity within a service contract. The candidate must have good SAR knowledge, a proactive approach and able to liaise well with the technical teams and the clients. Responsibilities Duties The team provides satellite data quality activities at the customer site and includes routine work to ensure data integrity but also support for the operation of the data processing system. Significant time is spent on the coordinationand execution of software validation in preparation for use in the operational environment. The tasks include Representation of the Quality Control QC team in customer meetings and making key decisions for planning the teams work Ensuring QC support is available for all ESAC working days Liaison with IDEAS subcontractors and customers contractors for software improvement. Support to FAT tests Carrying out software validation at OSAT, including planning. Software includes QC tools and processors Update of documentation including QC processes Support to all stages of data reprocessing campaign and leading those relevant to the team such as planning QC, preparation of Auxiliary files, performing QC and reporting Ensuring teams output remains in line with the Service Level agreement Routine operational QC activities, e.g, daily checking of data, monthly QC reporting, preparation of auxiliary data Response to 2nd level user queries about the date passed on from EO Helpdesk Reporting to customer The post is based in ESAC, Spain but the coordinator must be prepared to travel elsewhere for meetings Qualifications Experience Previous experience in leading a team A good track record in negotiating time and resources with customer Good SAR knowledge Experience of working with operational EO data processing chains Experience of software validation OSAT Essential Skills Excellent time management skills Previous experience working with LinuxUnix systems Programming skills including Python, Matlab Desirable Skills Experience of QC activities for EO Previous experience working with SMOS data Qualities Must have an excellent level of English Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early.
