We also got a look at a new third-party Steam Machine by CyberPowerPC that began at a price of $499. Now, just a day later, Valve has unveiled 13 Steam Machines, in all shapes, sizes, specs, and prices.

Valve announced its 12 current third party Steam Machine partners, and a new third-party Steam machine has been revealed.

Valve Releases Steam Controller

Valve Software has announced the Steam Controller, the third part of its trio of initiatives designed to bring Linux-based gaming to the living room. Valve dubbed the controller "a different kind of gamepad." It features dual circulator trackpads driven by the player's thumbs. Each has a high-resolution haptic pad at its base, which is clickable, allowing the entire surface to act as a button.

Last week, Valve slowly rolled out three separate announcements detailing its purportedly clever plan to get PC gaming into the living room -- perhaps even muscling console gaming out. The plan involves three initiatives: an operating system, console hardware, and a new controller. Unfortunately, it seems rather than revolutionizing PC gaming, Valve is hoping its universal unflinching goodwill from gamers will support the Steam Box, whether or not it's a good idea.
