Boil water notice issued for Ropesville

Due to a large water line break located in the 300-400 Block of Timmons, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required our water system of City of Ropesville Water Supply to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use.

Port O'Connor water exceeds contaminants - an hour ago

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has notified the Port O'Connor Improvement District water system that the drinking water being supplied to customers had exceeded the maximum contaminant level for total trihalomethanes. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has established the maximum contaminant level for total trihalomethanes at 0.080 milligrams per liter based on locational running annual average, and has determined that it is a health concern at levels above the containment level, according to a notice the Port O'Connor Improvement District sent to residents this week.

Reuters: California farmers would pay more to irrigate their crops under a proposal to build tunnels under the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta to funnel water to the state's agricultural breadbasket, officials said on Friday. The analysis released by state Treasurer Bill Lockyer said regional water suppliers and the farmers who purchase water from them would be able to handle the increased costs, even though the price of water could more than double once the price of paying for the project is included....
