Photo provided to The Advocate -- The chain-link exit gate for workers at the Methanex Corp. site in Geismar was locked during a lightning storm Tuesday, June 9, 2015, when workers were directed to shelter in place about 11:15 a.m. Workers complained that the gate should not be locked, and it prevented them from leaving Methanex after the day's work had been called off later Tuesday. Methanex officials said their procedure is not to let workers walk around when a "lightning alert" is in place but said they are reviewing their procedures, including the locking of the gate.
