Immediate start! The role is a permanent position and the successful candidate will be based in Harwell, UK. Our Space client based in Harwell, Oxfordshire is seeking an AIT Engineer to play a key role in setting up, establishing and managing the day to day operation of their satellite integration facility in Harwell. You will oversee all associated activities including project management, manufacturing processes, mechanical and thermal engineering requirements and will be in charge of the technical content, schedule and costs of the tasks in the AIT department. As an AIT Operations Manager you will be responsible for the AIT facility launch campaign preparation and performance and play a crucial role in the development in the next generation of space platforms. Reporting to the AIT Manager with technical oversight provided by the Skill lead. The main duties and responsibilities may include Complete Assembly, Integration and Test activities on Satellites Work in accordance with AIT procedures and processes Assembly of the Satellite and subassemblies Validation of the tooling Manufacturingrouting harnesses in accordance with ECSS standards Perform hazardous and critical operations, such as bonding, crimping of flight HW etc in line with the correct standards Assemble MultiLayer Insulation Environmental tests preparation and satellite instrumentation in accordance with the instrumentation plan. Satellite Alignment measurements Solar array operations Tank Operations Thermal test Vibration test Solar array deployment test Mass properties EMC tests Acoustic tests Propulsion leak tests Records test configurations and databases and ensures the traceability of the operations that have been conducted are correctly performed Reviews test results to ensure the quality of the tests carried are acceptable and provide the corresponding test reports as applicable Satellite installation in the transport container Skills, Experience Qualifications Required A minimum of 6 years experience in the Space and Satellite Engineering field Significant skills and experiences related to the duties and responsibilities listed above Build and test experience on Satellites Ideally the candidate would have completed activities on a number of different satellites Training to ECSS standards While specific knowledge of the French and Italian languages is not a prerequisite for this position it would be advantageous

Job description JUICE JUpiter ICy moons Explorer is the first largeclass mission in ESAs Cosmic Vision 20152025 programme. Planned for launch in 2022 and arrival at Jupiter in 2030, it will spend at least three years making detailed observations of the giant gaseous planet Jupiter and three of its largest moons, Ganymede, Callisto and Europa. In the frame of the JUICE Space project, Terma AS is pleased to invite you to submit your application as Assembly Integration and Test AIT Support Engineer. The scope of work is to provide a functional and operation support to the customer AIT team for preparation, execution and test result evaluation covering all activities of spacecraft testing and operation. These are full time positions, located at our customer site in Toulouse France, and may require additional travel. Each of the positions has a different speciality as follows Position 1 Data Management System DMS Position 2 Attitude and Orbit Control System AOCS and Position 3 Power and Instrument tests The Central Checkout System CCS5 from Terma ccs.terma.com has been selected for the JUICE mission and you will work closely with our JUICE project team in Terma Space. Responsibilities Specific activities for each of the technical domains are 1. Data Management System DMS DMS at PF, instruments and SC levels, Central SW CSW loading and testing of DMS mechanisms, MissionFDIR with CSW version V3, EGSE support for CCS, EGSE support for SIMAIT, EGSE support for TMTC FrontEnd, Management population, maintenance of the JUICE database for specific AIT needs i.e. scoe parameters, specific monitoring parameters, management of forbidden telecommands, 2. Attitude and Orbit Control System AOCS open and closedloop tests, with HW In the Loop HIL or with simulated equipment, EGSE support for Simulator Front End SIMFE 3. Power and Instrument tests Electrical Power Subsystem, limited to Battery chargedischarge management, Instrument testing, at DMS level communication mechanisms with Command and Data Mgt Unit and Solid State Mass Memory SSMM then in science operational modes, with end to end tests from instrument up to the download of science stored in SSMM, MissionFDIR with CSW version V3, EGSE support for Power SCOE. Detailed activities are Understanding of functional test specification and translation into structured test concept Understanding of detailed user and operational manuals required to operate spacecraft. Creation of executable SW code in the tcl language of CCS5, for test sequences, socalled Automated Test Procedures ATP. ATPs include also the GSE command control required to operate, stimulate, monitor the spacecraft interfaces. Preliminary testing of the ATPs on the SIMAIT simulator. Execution and debugging of ATP on the SC EM model. Creations and or adaptation of synoptic pictures. Daily spacecraft operations. EGSE setup and operation, locally, through CCS or ATP commands. Data retrieval and data post processing. Evaluation of test results and participating to test report preparation. Participation to the team meetings i.e. weekly AIT meeting, engineering meetings, daily operations meeting, PostTest Reviews PTR, Test Readiness Reviews TRR, Test Review Board TRB. Participation to failure analyse board, socalled Nonconformance Review Board NRB,. Contribution to the Return of Experience process, shared between EM and PFM models for centralizing AIT relevant experiences. Daily coordination with the AIT lead and functional lead. Taking part in problem investigation and NCR closeout. Aiding specific spacecraft tests detailed by activity control sheets. Familiarisation and use of all tools an processes defined to aid spacecraft integration and test. Documentation of knowledge acquired in user manuals and wikis to aid the EM and PFM team. Outputs Test scripts ATP, test procedures, synoptics, operation descriptions and manuals, test reports, ProblemObservation reports JIRA tickets, EGSE and database configuration control, ATP configuration control. Start date of the mission is foreseen in September 2018. Qualifications Competencies We are searching for an experienced Assembly Integration and Test AIT Support Engineer with Industrial experience as operator in functional validation with a minimum 3 years experience in the space environment. Applicants shall have preferably a University degree in the domain of Telecommunications, Electronics, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering or other suitable equivalent qualification Mandatory skills Good programming skills, especially in tcl language. Knowledge of the verification approach, and of the SC technical domains under test For EGSE support good knowledge in electronics and SW domains. ideally CCS5TOPE For database support good knowledge of database tools. Knowledge of the EGSE and bench architecture, network infrastructures, verification approach. Experience in satellite AIT activities is needed. Good knowledge in UNIXLinuxWindows usage and Jira tool. Knowledge of ECSS and MIB format for database exports would be an asset. In the particular domain of Power and Instrument tests, due to the criticality of the subsystem and related activities i.e. battery charging, specific test under limit power conditions ..., a specific experience in powerrelated AIT is desired. Languages French and English fluent. German would be an asset as well. Candidates who have experiences in several technical domains might indicate their preference to a specific domain. The candidate has to bring the willingness to travel between customer sites. About The Role We now have a new opportunity for a talented Control and Instrumentation lead within our AIT Group, with responsibility for designing, developing, installing, managing and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems and processes in our test facilities. The AIT Group operates leading instrument integration and calibration facilities, including thermal vacuum chambers, vacuum bake out chambers, a vibration test facility and inspection and metrology equipment. The group is responsible for the development and operation of a range of test facilities for the assembly and qualification of space hardware for both RAL Space and the wider user community. RAL space has recently attracted multimillion pound investment to develop a national satellite test facility NSTF which will allow a step change in the capability available in the UK. This will expand our remit from providing AIT facilities for our own instrument programs to include larger scale projects up to complete spacecraft level. The new facilities will include large scale vibration, acoustic, EMC and mechanical properties facilities along with an 8m diameter thermal vacuum chamber. The new facilities will allow AIT campaigns for the complete size range of spacecraft to be completed within the UK for the first time. Further Responsibilities will include researching, designing and developing new systems and devices, used to control and monitor RAL Space operational facilities, involving aspects of both software and hardware engineering ensuring all measurement chains are calibrated to the necessary standards, including the design, procurement and use of suitable equipment and tools ensuring all inhouse or complex systems conforms to the relevant European Norms and directives overseeing the design, development, test and configuration of all facility control and acquisition system hardware overseeing the design, development and test of data storage, formatting and reporting systems line management of staff management of product rollouts, training and maintenance activities understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards writing computer software and test procedures. About You You will be educated to degree level in electronic engineering or similar, with accreditation to a professional institute e.g. IET or InstMC desirable. You will have significant DAQ experience from within the aerospace industry or an equivalent field, along with experience of developing solutions for data gathering and analysis, including database design and development. You will also demonstrate experience of delivery of control and acquisition systems from concepts, through design, development, test and implementation, as well as staff and project management experience.
