(Telecompaper) Vodafone and Ericsson have claimed the world's first successful connection of mobile devices to a cross-border 5G network during a trial held in Spain and Portugal, reports Expansion. The test saw two professional e-sports players complete a 5.8 kilometre journey in separate cars between Tui in Spain and Valenca do Minho in Portugal while playing a PUBG game on two tablets connected to the operator's pre-commercial 5G network.

Veon Q1 profit boosted by Ericsson settlement, organic revenue up 7.4%

(Telecompaper) Veon reported strong underlying results in the first quarter, ahead of its full-year outlook, with organic revenues up 7.4 percent and adjusted EBITDA up 37 percent. The company said it saw a strong performance in its largest markets Pakistan, Ukraine, Bangladesh and Russia, and also benefited from cost-cutting efforts and the USD 350 million settlement with Ericsson.
