Finland awards 5G spectrum in 3.5 GHz auction to Telia, Elisa and DNA

(Telecompaper) The Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (Ficora) has announced the results of the 5G auction that began on 26 September for licences to use the 34103800 MHz spectrum band. Telia Finland won band A for the frequencies 3410-3540 MHz, with a bid of EUR 30.26 million; Elisa won band B from 3540-3670 MHz with a bid of EUR 26.35 million; and DNA won band C from 3670-3800 MHz with a bid of EUR 21.00 million.

(Telecompaper) With the auction of Sky ending a long takeover battle, a spectrum auction in Italy going into overdrive and potentially explosive regulatory news from the Netherlands the European telecoms sector proved to be anything but dull. Share price performance in week 39 ranged between -8 percent and +35 percent. Our index lost 0.5 percent, performing slightly better than the EuroStoxx 50 index at -0.9 percent. Intelsat extended its year-to-date gain to no less than 800 percent.
Danish Energy Authority postpones 700 MHz, 900 MHz, 2300 MHz auction on eve, no reason given

(Telecompaper) The Danish Energy Authority has announced the postponement at the last minute of the auction for frequencies in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 2300 MHz bands. It had been due to start on 25 September. It blamed unforeseen circumstances and said it could not comment further on the reasons for now. The operators 3 Denmark, TDC and the joint Telia-Telenor network TT had all qualified for participation.
