Two public hearings will be conducted in August on the proposed sale of homes that are considered surplus property now that plans have been scuttled to close the gap between the Long beach Freeway and the Foothill Freeway in Pasadena over land. Caltrans and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority have come up with five alternatives to the freeway connector road in its SR-710 North Study.

City planning commission members were briefed Tuesday on two of the newest projects - a 365-unit apartment complex on the Allegheny riverfront in the Strip District and a 172-unit building on the Shadyside-East Liberty border near Whole Foods Market.
