Where Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles Are Headed through 2030

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, of course, have been very small in sales for far with global annual sales well under 500 units per year in 2011 and 2012. To get to where automakers predict the number to be in 2015, production needs to be ramped up for commercialization. The sales number is expected to grow in that year partly due to Toyotas announcement it would be selling its first fuel cell vehicle by that time. Navigant Research forecasts in its Fuel Cell Vehicles report that worldwide sales of FCVs will reach the 1,000 mark in 2015 and then begin a period of strong growth, reaching and surpassing two million vehicles annually by 2030. The report doesnt just focus on passenger cars, but on two other vehicle segments expected to see that growth buses and scooters.
