$700M investment boosts XPO Logistics' targets

Greenwich-based XPO Logistics, one of the fastest growing providers of transportation logistics in North America, announced last week that it received $700 million in investments, in a deal that the company expects will vastly accelerate growth. The investment comes from PSP Investments, GIC, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund and Ontario Teachers ' Pension Plan, and is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, at which time the new investors would hold about 22 percent of XPO's common stock.

XPO Logistics, Inc. today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with PSP Investments, GIC, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund, and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan to invest a total of $700 million in XPO to accelerate the company's growth strategy. The company will receive all of the net proceeds, which it intends to use primarily for unspecified acquisitions.

AK Steel Holding Corp. is issuing 35 million shares of common stock and offering $430 million in bonds to finance its $700 million acquisition of Severstal Dearborn LLC in Michigan. The West Chester-based steelmaker on Monday said any additional proceeds from the two would repay borrowings under its asset-backed revolving credit facility and be used for general corporate purposes.
