Train makes emergency stop for man on tracks

A train traveling through Fairfield Friday had to make an emergency stop when the conductor saw a person standing on the tracks. According to the Fairfield Police Department's call log, the railroad company Burlington Northern Santa Fe notified the police that a male subject wearing shorts was standing on the tracks at 12:06 a.m. Friday on North Second Street near the Fairfield Depot.

Man charged in theft of railroad wiring

Prosecutors in Miller County formally charged Jeffrey Duane Procella, 39, last week in theft of metal and felony criminal mischief in the removal of signal wire from a Union Pacific Corp. railroad track in Texarkana. When signal wire is damaged, the flow of critical railroad information is disrupted.

Man accused of robbing, injuring 84-year-old woman pleads guilty

A man has pleaded guilty to robbery and assault charges for robbing and injuring an 84-year-old woman and a Harris Teeter employee in March. Prosecutors said Barringer targeted the victim, Marjorie McOrmond because of her age.
