New Scientist: Could Australia have had schools of mysterious, technicolour purple jellyfish swimming off its shores all along without anybody noticing? After one such creature, previously unknown in Australia - and probably to science - washed up on a Queensland coast last week, jellyfish scientist Lisa-ann Gershwin has received a string of reported sightings dating back to 2008. Two groups reported on May 12, 2014, that the global sea level will rise at least 10 feet, accelerating to a dangerous pace after the next century. Just a day before those reports were released, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., sat down with ABC's Jonathan Karl on This Week. Talk turned to climate change, where the possible Republican presidential candidate denied a link between humans and the...

2014-05-11 20:52:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
LA Times: A National Climate Assessment released by the White House last week found that Rubio`s home state of Florida is one of the most vulnerable to rising sea levels and changes in temperatures and storm patterns. President Obama has proposed several new regulatory programs to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, which most scientists say are the chief cause of a warming global climate. Rubio said he doesn`t agree that actions humans take today could affect how the climate is changing. "Our climate...
