Confession season exposes cracks in the economy

After a quiet start to what is affectionately known as the "confession season", corporate earnings downgrades and warnings have begun to stack up as June draws to an end. According to broker IG, 14 major companies have downgraded their full-year profits guidance since the beginning of the month, with Woolworths, Flight Centre, Metcash, Nine Entertainment and Seek among the better-known names.
