(Telecompaper) Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo has unveiled a new range of mobile devices launching in the coming months. The operator confirmed it will offer the Sony Xperia Z tablet as well as a Wi-Fi only tablet manufactured by Huawei. The latter tablet will sell for around JPY 10,000 and feature a 10-inch screen and WLAN. Both the Xperia Z and Dtab will launch in March. In addition, Docomo announced six new smartphones in its next series, all with Android 4.1, LTE and screen sizes of 4.3-5.0 inches. These will launch from 30 January with the Eluga X from Panasonic Mobile and continue through mid-April with phones from Huawei, Sony Mobile, NEC Casio, Fujitsu and LG. In the Docomo with series, the operator will launch the Aquos Phone EX from Sharp on 25 January and Medias X from NEC Casio in mid-February. These are also Android 4.1 devices with LTE access. Also new is HW-02E mobile Wi-Fi router from Huawei, a LTE device available from mid-March, and the Smart TV dstick from Neos, which connects over Wi-Fi, USB and HDMI to stream media from dmarket. The dtab, dstick and updates to Docomo's Townky Beam app are part of what the operator is calling its Smart Home initiative to support sharing content between mobile devices and home electronics. Docomo will also start renting Wi-Fi routers to customers from March. These will be free to customers on certain flat-rate packages or data plans and cost JPY 315 per month for others. After two years of leasing the white-label routers, customers can keep the devices free.
