Microwave Instrument Engineer J 2999 Summary An opportunity for an experienced Microwave Engineer to work for Telespazio VEGA onsite at ESTEC. Objective To support the Microwave Instruments Section for Earth Observation Missions. Responsibilities Duties The duties will include but not limited to Developmentacquisition, validation and maintenance of performance assessment tools for various spaceborne microwave instruments encompassing both active radars and passive radiometers instruments Technical support to the assessment of the instrument performance Technical support to translation of missionobservation requirements to instrument requirements improvement and maintenance of data processing tools. Qualifications Experience MSc in electrical engineering or physics with background microwave engineering or electromagnetics theory. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. First experience in instrument system and performance modeling as well as digital signal processing techniques. Understanding of the modeling of wave interactions with the atmosphere and surface scattering. Good familiarity with programming languages and computer programs such as Python, MatLAB, ADS, Excel, etc. Practical experience relevant to the task described above is an asset. Specific qualification requirements The Candidate shall have a university degree masters in electrical engineering or physics with background microwave engineering or electromagnetics theory. The Candidate should ideally have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience. Knowledge of techniques used in Earth Observation missions including first hand experience in instrument system and performance modelling as well as digital signal processing techniques. Understanding of the modelling of wave interactions with the atmosphere and surface scattering. Good familiarity with programming languages and computer programs such as Python, MatLAB, ADS, Excel, etc. Good interpersonal Skills. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Proficient in the English Language Spoken and Written. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
