Commercial Power Sensor measures fiber lasers up to 100 kW.

2013-09-24 14:29:25| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

With response time of less than 1 minute, 100K-W Laser Power Meter measures high power beams at distance past focal spot of laser or, alternatively, at distance from diverging fiber output where beam has expanded to about 100 mm diameter. Portable unit consists of 50 x 50 cm beam dump and 11 x 15 x 34 cm water flow power measurement unit. Meter connects to PC via RS-232 and includes software that displays and graphs power and water flow rate. Industrial Picosecond Lasers enable machining of thick materials.

2013-09-10 14:31:32| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

Talisker HE series offer output options – 200 µJ pulse energy in NIR (1,064 nm), 120 µJ per pulse in green (532 nm), 40 µJ pulse energy in UV (355 nm) – that enable drilling, cutting, and scribing of thick materials. Lasers are optimized for pointing stability and use Cold Ablation, which promotes process quality with minimal heat affected zone and no unwanted melt debris. As pulse energy extends optical depth of focused beam, cold ablation occurs throughout full thickness of material. This story is related to the following:Ultrashort Pulse Lasers |

Using lithographic lasers to harvest super-pure graphene suitable for stacking

2013-09-03 19:09:23| Extremetech

Graphene is a material with seemingly unlimited potential. This remarkable single-layer lattice of carbon atoms has been put forward as the solution to a huge number of engineering problems from semiconductors to solar cells, but to make anything truly useful with graphene, you have to be able to layer it. This is where the problem comes in, but it's a problem a group of Nankai University researchers in China hope they've finally solved.
