Engineering Design Manager Job Reference GTL201804102 Location Dublin, Ireland Our client based in Ireland, is a leading manufacturer of rugged, high performance, electronic equipment for aerospace and space avionics applications for some of the worlds leading OEMs for more than 20 years. We are seeking an Engineering Design Manager to create and lead a design team dedicated to electronic systems for Space applications. The successful candidate will be a selfstarter with broad experience of all aspects of electronic design and development, and will manage a small and focussed team of hardware, software and embedded system engineers who are developing electronic systems solutions operating in the challenging space environment. The position will entail taking responsibility for leading the engineering design team with a sense of urgency and attention to detail in order to deliver the technical solution to our customer on time and within budget. An important part of the role will require excellent communications skills to interface with the customer technical team and with the internal departments who are delivering items and services to the project. The new Engineering Design Manager will report directly to the senior management team and work under minimal supervision while assuming responsibility for daytoday operational management of all activities and functions in the engineering team, including developing, implementing and evaluating design rules policies, procedures and standards determining design process service levels and enhancements developing and monitoring technical budgets from proposal through to completion providing technical advice andor supervision to staff, other departments, the public and other agencies. Position Responsibilities Lead and grow the Engineering team to ensure the development capability can leverage global technological developments to deliver the key innovations in the product roadmap. Operational management of the engineering team. Manage and continually develop the knowledge and skill base of all members of the Engineering team and provide day to day steering and coaching. Ensure that all engineering activities are carried out within the constraints of the operating budgets and achieving improved efficiency where possible. Provide regular reports to management with detailed reviews of project performance and risk. Chair daily weekly monthly Engineering team reviews. Coordinate development schedule needs with sales, production, purchasing engineering teams. Evaluate schedules and product status to determine appropriate actions to ensure delivery of products on time and manage programme technical risk. Qualifications Honours Degree in a relevant STEM subject or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
