Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Galileo PRS Access Control Engineer in the Galileo System Security Unit in the Galileo Security Office, Navigation Security Office, Directorate of Navigation. Duties Reporting to the Head of Unit within the Galileo Security Office, the postholder will be in charge of maintaining PRS Access Control requirements at system and segment i.e. Galileo Security Monitoring Centre GSMC and pointofcontact PRS POCP levels as well as the associated interface control documents, maintaining the PRS Access Control functional chain within the system design definition file logical and physical, participating in segment design reviews to ensure proper design of the PRS Access Control functions in line with system expectation, reviewing the segment test plan, cases and procedures to ensure proper implementation of the PRS Access Control functionality, close followup of segment tests with respect to the PRS Access Control functionality, including test witnessing and qualification credit reviews, supporting system integration and verification activities for the definition of system testing with respect to the PRS Access Control and following up system tests including test witnessing and participation in TRRs, TRBs, following up system and segment anomalies related to PRS Access Control, regular reporting to the Head of Unit. Technical competencies Knowledge of other technical domains with interfaces to own area of responsibility Knowledge of ESA and industrial development, verification and procurement processes Information technology security Security engineering, especially security monitoring Design, development, deployment and testing of complex secure systems Behavioural competencies Communication Problem Solving Results Orientation Teamwork Education Engineering degree Master level in Information Systems Engineering. Additional requirements Applicants should have a good background in satellite navigation, signals and security engineering applied to space systems with substantial experience in phase CD projects. Knowledge of satellite systems is also a prerequisite. Previous involvement in system security engineering design, development, verification for complex systems, preferably satellitebased. Candidates are expected to be able to set priorities and identify practical solutions. They should be able to work autonomously as well as in a team environment. They should have good organisational and communication skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. Applicants must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests. Tasks Thanks to the consolidated experience in the field, the candidate will play a crucial technical role in tackling and solving stateoftheart GNC problems for upcoming commercial andor institutional missions. Heshe will be joining our Darmstadtbased GNC team, currently working on advanced topics such as optimal control for onorbit electric stationkeeping and large constellations maintenance. Additionally, heshe will contribute to the mission analysis for the German telecommunication satellite Heinrich Hertz H2SAT. The candidate will also be involved as a technical expert in the bidding processes for upcoming GNC studies. The candidate will report directly to GNC team manager. For this position, the following tasks are currently envisaged, but the assignments might change during the projects development depending on the operational needs Design, implement and validate various onground andor onboard orbit and attitude GNC algorithms for individual spacecraft but also for constellations and formations Participate in the design, development, and verification of GNC flight software prototypes Perform analyses and support tradeoff studies in the GNC domain Produce all the necessary associated design and test documentation Review and evaluate GNC analyses, studies and designs performed by third parties Develop and tests scripts used during mission operations Support mission simulations in performing GNC analysis tasks expected during operations Plan and provide GNC operational support required during flight Support business development activities in the GNC domain Essential requirements The successful candidate will have A university Master degree in aerospace or control engineering, mathematics or equivalent A sound knowledge of spacecraft orbit and attitude GNC theory A sound knowledge of celestial mechanics and spacecraft orbit and attitude dynamics Competence in software development Fluency in English We are looking for a motivated and proactive team player, able to work autonomously, showing initiative and selfmanagement skills when performing under time pressure.
