Calgary-based Enbridge Inc. has eaten up another floor at its office building as the growth plans the Canadian energy company heralded in January come to fruition. Enbridge subsidiaries Enbridge Energy Partners LP , Midcoast Energy Partners LP and Enbridge Energy Management LLC are all based out of the 1100 Louisiana St., suite 3300, but now Enbridge will be occupying the entire 37th floor as well, according to a building permit filed with the city of Houston.

David Woodcock, regional director of the Fort Worth office of the Securities and Exchange Commission, said opening a Houston office is desirable in principle, but ultimately needs a budgetary blessing. One thing that regulators, attorneys and investors tend to agree upon is that Houston should absolutely have a branch of the Securities and Exchange Commission that would report to the regional SEC office in Fort Worth.
