Cleanup continued Sunday morning at the derailment site of a Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway train hauling grain on the tracks just west of Hartland Center Road. There were at least five grain cars overturned.

In a March 24 story about flawed projects at the Fukushima nuclear plant, The Associated Press erroneously described the spending as coming from taxpayer money allocated for the plant's cleanup. It actually was part of 350 billion yen paid for by plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co.

Virginia approves cleanup plan for power plant site

For more than 60 years, two 25,000-gallon tanks buried underground at the coal-fired power plant on Alexandria's Potomac River have been slowly leaking heating oil into the ground and into the river's sediment. This week, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality approved the company's plan to clean up and contain the spill over the next three years, and to monitor the soil and groundwater for two years after that.
