4G users stream more video than with 3G - survey

(Telecompaper) One in four Britons check social apps more than ten times a day on their 4G smartphone or tablet, according to the results of EE's first 4GEE Mobile Living Index. The survey shows that Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are the UK's favourite social media apps over 4G. It also shows that one in three are streaming more video over 4G than they did using 3G, with BBC iPlayer, Netflix and Sky Go the favourite TV services; and 71 percent are shopping on their 4G smartphone or tablet, with men three times more likely than women to spend over GBP 200 a month on their mobile.

Google Asks Search Users to Speak Up

Google is making a major push into voice search with the rollout of several new capabilities, the company announced on Wednesday. Specifically, over the coming days and weeks, English-speaking users with voice search on desktops, tablets and smartphones will be able to ask Google such common queries as, "is my flight on time?" and get answers instantly in Google Search.

Microsoft's Outlook.com web mail application and SkyDrive cloud storage service are suffering a partial outage on Wednesday. The problems began at around 10 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time and hadn't been resolved by early afternoon, according to information posted by Microsoft on its Live Status page.
