Rising CO2 Level Threatens Ocean Life Badly
2015-07-04 12:25:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
I4U: A recent study shows that rampant global warming will probably do a lot of harm to sea creatures. This can have a devastating impact on the ecology of the planet. It has been found that if global warming and the greenhouse effect are not curbed within the nick of time by humanity, marine life could be badly influenced by the extra atmospheric heat. The hot temperatures could cause fish to travel to cooler habitats and coral reefs too could be destroyed as a result. To limit the temperatures to...
Global Warming Threatens Colder Climate for Europe
2015-07-03 15:56:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Climate News: Scientists have yet again warned that weakening ocean circulation in the North Atlantic could deliver a climate paradox-a colder Europe as a consequence of global warming. A study published in Nature Climate Change found that as sea ice off Iceland and Greenland retreats, the flow of cold, dense water to the bottom of the North Atlantic ocean could be reduced, and therefore weaken the warming effects of the Gulf Stream. The great submarine current-sometimes called the Atlantic Conveyor-flows...

Climate change threatens to undermine the last half century of health gains
2015-06-23 15:02:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
ScienceDaily: The threat to human health from climate change is so great that it could undermine the last fifty years of gains in development and global health, according to a major new Commission, published in The Lancet. However, the report provides comprehensive new evidence showing that because responses to mitigate and adapt to climate change have direct and indirect health benefits -- from reducing air pollution to improving diet -- concerted global efforts to tackle climate change actually represent one...

Climate change threatens 50 years of progress in global health, study says
2015-06-23 01:01:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Guardian: Climate change threatens to undermine half a century of progress in global health, according to a major new report. But the analysis also concludes that the benefits to health resulting from slashing fossil fuel use are so large that tackling global warming also presents the greatest global opportunity to improve peoples health in the 21st century. The report was produced by the Lancet/UCL commission on health and climate change, a collaboration of dozens of experts from around the world, and...

EU threatens large fine against Google - report
2015-06-19 16:59:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) The European Union threatened to levy fines on Google in its search competition investigation that would be large enough to act as a deterrent against continuing its abusive practices. The EU's competition department told Google it could face a fine based on its AdWords revenue generated from European users, according to a version of the statement of objections released to complainants and seen by Bloomberg. The EU also said it may tell Google to make changes to how its shopping services are displayed. The EU sent Google a statement of objections in April, and the company has ten weeks to respond. A group of the complainants in the case, which includes Microsoft, Expedia and other web publishers, is also reviewing the objections. The European Commission "intends to set the fine at a level which will be sufficient to ensure deterrence," the EU regulator said in the document. The regulator "considers that, based on the facts described in this statement of objections, Google committed the infringement intentionally or, at the very least, negligently."
