HTC accuses R&D employees of leaking trade secrets
2013-09-02 10:10:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) HTC employees were detained by Taiwan authorities after the smartphone maker alleged that some of its trade secrets were breached. Five people, including four R&D employees at HTC, were questioned as defendants after a complaint by the company, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Huang Mou-hsin told Bloomberg. Two workers were detained while the others were released on bail. HTC said its operations were not affected and its Q4 products are on schedule. The company filed complaints to the Ministry of Justice's Investigation Bureau last month, accusing employees of leaking commercial secrets and using fake receipts to seek reimbursement, Huang said. Investigators searched HTC offices and the employees' homes on 30 August. "The company expects employees to observe and practice the highest levels of integrity and ethics," HTC said in a statement. "The company does not compromise nor condone any violation at any level of our organization and the company shall act in accordance to the law." The company declined to comment on the secrets involved in the case or provide further details while the investigation is underway.
