Telecom Italia revenues improve to 0.4% fall in Q2 on Brazil gains, rising ARPU

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) reported a 0.4 percent year-on-year decline in second quarter revenues to EUR 4.5 billion on a comparable basis, an improvement on falls of 2.5 percent and 2.9 percent in the previous two quarters, helped by a 2.4 percent rise in service revenues at its TIM Brasil unit that partly offset a 1.2 percent decrease at its domestic unit. The company's EBITDA was EUR 1.9 billion in the second quarter, down 2.6 percent on an organic basis, though the margin inched up 0.6 percentage points to 42.2 percent thanks to cost containment initiatives.

Facebook earnings fall on FTC, tax charges; revenues grow 28%

(Telecompaper) Facebook reported second-quarter net earnings down 49 percent to USD 2.616 billion or 91 cents a share. The results were hurt by another USD 2 billion in provisions for the company's settlement with the FTC and an extra USD 1.1 billion charge for tax.
Pay TV revenues to fall to 2010 levels

Worldwide pay TV revenues peaked in 2016 at $205 billion, according to Digital TV Research. Revenues will fall by 14% to $177 billion in 2024. This is the same level as 2010 - despite the number of pay TV subscribers climbing by 380 million.

Proximus trims FY outlook after domestic revenues fall 2.2% in Q1

(Telecompaper) Belgian operator Proximus reported a drop of 2.2 percent in underlying domestic revenues in the first quarter, to EUR 1.096 billion. The company blamed the fall on lower handset sales and incoming mobile traffic, while noting this had little impact on the margin. The weak Q1 result prompted a change in the company's full-year outlook for "nearly stable" domestic revenues, with the forecast now excluding handset sales.
