AT&T Forecasts Double-Digit Revenue Growth

AT&T Inc, the No.2 U.S. telecom company, said it expected double-digit consolidated revenue growth for the rest of 2015, citing gains from its purchase of DirecTV. AT&T, which closed the acquisition of DirecTV in July, forecast 2015 adjusted profit of $2.62-$2.68 per share.

Alibaba quarterly revenue misses estimates, slowest growth in more than three years

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd's revenue for the three months ended June rose 28 percent, missing analysts' estimates, with growth slowing to its lowest rate in more than three years. China's biggest e-commerce company posted quarterly revenues of $3.27 billion, below an expected $3.39 billion, according to a Thomson Reuters SmartEstimate poll of 28 analysts.

Internet of Things (IoT) Unlocks Revenue Growth Opportunities

More than 80% of 795 companies surveyed by consulting firm Tata Consultancy Services increased revenue by investing in the Internet of Things . The average increase in revenue as a result of IoT initiatives is 16%, while market leaders in IoT have seen revenue increases of 64%, according to the report, the TCS Global Trend study on IoT.

Telefonica revenue growth improves in Q2

(Telecompaper) Telefonica reported second-quarter revenues up 12.4 percent to EUR 11.876 billion, driven by takeovers such as E-Plus in Germany, GVT in Brazil and DTS in Spain, as well as improving sales trends in its home market Spain. OIBDA rose 6.8 percent to EUR 3.702 billion, while the margin fell to 31.2 percent from 32.8 percent a year ago due to the consolidation of GVT and DTS. On an organic basis, excluding currency effects, revenues rose 4.4 percent and OIBDA was up 3.3 percent. Net profit jumped 70.4 percent to EUR 1.891 billion, after O2 UK was classified as discontinued activities ahead of the planned sale to Hutchison Whampoa. Telefonica adjusted its full-year outlook to take account of the acquisitions and now expects revenue growth of 9.5 percent of higher versus over 7 percent growth previously. The OIBDA margin is now expected to fall by around 1.2 percent points, versus an earlier estimate of 1 point, due to the lower margins at DTS and GVT. The company still expects capital expenditure at around 17 percent of revenues, after a figure of xx percent in the first half of the year, and net debt is expected to fall to less than 2.35 times EBITDA after the sale of O2 UK. At the end of June, net debt was at 2.92x, or 2.38 if the expected proceeds from O2 are included.

Vodafone organic service revenue growth improves to 0.8%

(Telecompaper) Vodafone showed a small improvement in underlying sales trends in its fiscal first quarter to June. Organic service revenues rose 0.8 percent year-on-year, with a 1.5 percent fall in Europe and 6.1 percent growth in Asia and Africa. Vodafone said it saw a continued recovery in Europe, as the UK grew service revenue 0.2 percent and the drop in organic service revenue slowed in Germany (-1.2%), Italy (-2.0%) and Spain (-5.5%). It also returned to revenue growth in South Africa and saw a strong increase of 15.0 percent in organic service revenue in Turkey and 6.9 percent growth in India. Group total revenue still fell 0.9 percent to GBP 10.1 billion, as negative forex effects took 7.3 percent points off revenue and acquisitions added 3.1 percent. Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao said the improving revenue trend was due in part to customer demand for 4G and mobile data. Across the group, the total amount of data traffic carried over Vodafone networks grew by 78 percent, with the AMAP region growing 97 percent and Europe 64 percent. Vodafone had 24.1 million 4G customers across 18 markets at the end of June, and 4G accounted for 35 percent of all data traffic in its European markets. In AMAP, the number of active data users increased by 6.6 million in the quarter to 122.2 million. The number of fixed broadband subscribers rose by 264,000 in the quarter to 12.3 million. Vodafonealso added 3.36 million mobile customers in the three months, for a total 449.1 million at the end of June.
