This morning, St. Petersburg Police Department's Community Awareness Manager Yolanda Fernandez notified Florida Realtors this morning that police arrested Paul Pinkston of St. Petersburg last night at 6:15 p.m. At this time, he is charged with one count of kidnapping with a deadly weapon and one count of armed robbery.

Realtors applaud SJC ruling on independent contractors

A statewide Realtor advocacy group is applauding the state Supreme Judicial Court's decision this week to upheld a lower court's ruling regarding real-estate agents' decision to affiliate as independent contractors. The Massachusetts Association of Realtors said the SJC's decision in Monell vs. Boston Pads LLC is a win for consumers and the entire real-estate industry, saying the ability for real- estate agents to choose to affiliate with real-estate brokers as independent contractors has been the backbone of the profession for more than 100 years.

In the first robbery, a woman was showing a home when the man pulled out a gun, tied her up and called her husband to demand a ransom. She was able to escape.
