Disconnecting All Wheel Drive lowers fuel consumption, emissions.
2013-12-27 14:29:52| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
EcoTrac™ minimizes effect of inertia and drag on vehicle's driveline system by disconnecting select rotating components from driveline when not needed (while in front-wheel drive). Specifically, system disconnects at power transfer unit (PTU) and rear drive module (RDM) to allow portions of driveline – PTU and RDM hypoid gear sets and associated bearings and driveshaft – to discontinue rotating. This enables all-wheel-drive functionality without decreasing fuel economy or adding to emissions.
