New vehicle sales have kept their brisk pace last month in the US, the second largest auto market in the world, with automakers posting robust year-over-year increases as the seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales, or SAAR, approached the 18 million units threshold. General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, Nissan, Lexus, Audi, Subaru and Volkswagen were among the key makes that delivered positive results as the industry sales were in July again on pace to secure the best level in at least a decade.

Canadian auto sales rose 0.4 percent in July from a year earlier but some major automakers, including Ford Motor Co. and General Motors, saw sales decline, according to data compiled by DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Light vehicle sales rose to 177,844 cars and trucks from 177,108 a year earlier, setting a new July sales record.

Glatfelter reported second-quarter 2015 net income of $2.8 million and adjusted earnings of $1.8 million. For the second quarter of 2014, net income was $4.7 million and adjusted earnings were $3.8 million.

More bad news about Apple Inc. appears to be emerging as The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple Watch sales may have been weak in the second quarter , a report that comes as the iPhone maker's stock dipped to $113.25 per share in intra-day trading today, down over 4% from yesterday and the lowest price the stock has had in over six months. According to the report, Bernstein Research analyst Mark Li has revealed that a subsidiary of Taiwanese company Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. which makes the system-in-package, the core chips and sensors component also called the SiP, of the Apple Watch did not reach its "break-even volume" of two million SiP units a month throughout the second quarter.
