Edmunds.com forecast that total industry sales would reach an annualized pace of 17.5 million vehicles in January once all automakers have reported results.

February 2, 2016: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today reported January sales of 100,497 Honda and Acura vehicles, a decrease of 1.7 percent in an unusual month as the industry endured winter weather on both coasts along with two fewer selling days and one less weekend than January 2015. Honda Division set a new January record with 90,247 units sold; Honda car sales reached 50,812 while truck sales totaled 39,435 for the month.

Feb 2 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles reported its 70th straight month of year-on-year monthly sales gains in the United States on Tuesday, with January sales up 7 percent. Fiat Chrysler's Jeep SUV brand showed sales up 15 percent, and sales for the Ram pickup truck brand rose 5 percent.

January US auto sales expected to fall after snowstorm

U.S. auto sales were expected to fall in January because of the East Coast snowstorm, but analysts say demand remains strong and buyers will likely head back into dealerships this month. J.D. Power and Associates forecast a 4.5 percent sales drop from a year ago to just under 1.1 million cars and trucks.
