The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has denied the requests of several broadband providers and trade groups asking the agency to delay its net neutrality rules. The FCC, late Friday, denied petitions for a stay of its net neutrality rules from Daniel Berninger , founder of the nonprofit Voice Communication Exchange Committee, the American Cable Association , the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, USTelecom , the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association, AT&T and CenturyLink.

The White House said Friday that President Obama's visit to Nike headquarters in Oregon next week is unrelated to the company's $50 million contribution to first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign for kids. Asked whether Nike's generosity was behind the White House's selection of the company for a presidential visit, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said "not that I'm aware of."

(Telecompaper) Nokia has denied recent news reports claiming that it communicated an intention to manufacture consumer handsets out of a R&D facility in China. The Finnish mobile network equipment maker said, "These reports are false, and include comments incorrectly attributed to a Nokia Networks executive. Nokia reiterates it currently has no plans to manufacture or sell consumer handsets." The company, which sold its handset operations to Microsoft in April last year, is currently in merger talks with Alcatel-Lucent.
