IFT to probe Telmex-Dish tie-up, online news service

(Telecompaper) America Movil has announced that Mexican telecoms regulator IFT has launched an investigation into the relationship between its fixed-line unit Telmex and satellite TV provider Dish Mexico. Specifically, the regulator will be probing whether Telmex violated the terms of its concession and broke the cost-free rule of retransmission of TV broadcast signals through other operators. The IFT will be looking at commercial agreements between Telmex and Dish, as well as America Movil's online television and news website "Uno TV", said the company, adding that it would assess the scope of the alleged violations before deciding on its response.
