Thorn SDS is looking for a candidate to provide SAP MMSD Support for End Users along with Project and Administration Coordination. The successful candidate will support the daytoday operation of the SAP System with emphasis on MMSD related topics, support the implantation of MMSD related enhancements and SAP BO rollout, to facilitate the coordination and communication of changes in the functionality of the SAP system with emphasis on MMSD. Thorn SDS is an AUG registered business with a local bilingual English German support team in Darmstadt. We specialise in the supply of staff and services into the space and security sectors and are particularly interested in speaking to existing contractors at EUMETSAT that may be searching for a cost effective employment partner. The key candidate shall have knowledge and experience in all of the following Experience of working in a SAP Support team with emphasis on MMSD and respective portal applications. Experience in coordinating tasks between a high number of international and external people, such as bug followup training, training coordination and documentation followup. Proven experience in providing enduser support 1st or 2nd level, and proficiency in using the mySAP ERP and portal SRM and workflow functionalities. Experience in providing end user training in the areas of SAP navigation, workflow and SRM on SAP portal. Basic understanding of SAP workflow logs and errors. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Tools Microsoft Word and Excel in particular Basic understanding of SAP Financials, HR functional modules and HR functionalities such as time management, organisation management, recruitment and learning would be considered to be advantageous. Knowledge of incident and change management fundamentals and principles preferably using processes conforming to the ITIL standard for IT Service Management would also be considered to be advantageous. The working languages for this position is English and French, therefore all applications must have a good working knowledge of either English or French. German would be considered advantageous. Tasks The Key person will be part of the Information and Communication Technologies ICT Section within the General Services Division. The ICT Section in the General Services Division is in charge of providing corporate ICT services and infrastructure to internal users. This will mainly involve providing guidance on navigation and assisting users who are not familiar with SAP, however functional support, particularly in areas supported by ESS and workflows functionality is expected. Supporting the implementation of financials related process enhancements and projects by conducting activities such as testing of new functionality, supporting pilot implementations, rollouts and similar activities in a project environment and providing respective feedback Supporting Business Process Experts in testing for technical upgrades including Support and Enhancement Packages Facilitating the coordination and communication of changes in functionality to the SAP system with emphasis on Financials due to bugs, enhancements, and daily production support. For our activities in EUMETSAT we are currently seeking someone to support the SAP EndUsers. ERP 2005 SAP modules in use at EUMETSAT are FI, CO, MM, SD, Public Sector Management, HR, Project System. EUMETSAT uses Portal technology for workflow and Employee Self Service transactions. EUMETSAT has also implemented SAP BI, including SAP Business Warehouse and SAP Business Objects to fulfill its reporting requirements. The current number of EUMETSAT SAP users is estimated to be around 350, and are grouped into three categories Employee Self Service Users ESS. These users use ESS for both business and personal purposes, e.g. time and absence management, shopping cart. Workflow Users, who will mainly view SAP data and participate in workflow, i.e. electronic approval loop of certain transactions, e.g. travel management, procurement requests, invoice acceptance. Most of these users also use SAP for reporting purposes. Professional Transactional Users, who enter and maintain data and transactions directly in SAP. In addition, there are a certain number of Reporting Users, who enter and run the reports through SAP Business Intelligence Systems. SAP to hike Standard Support fees on new contracts

SAP is planning to impose a higher price on its Standard Support software maintenance offering later this year, with the increase applying only to new contracts. "In order to ensure the same high level of quality support in the future, we will change the maintenance rate for new maintenance contracts with SAP Standard Support from 18 percent to 19 percent, effective July 15, 2013," SAP said in a statement released Monday. "This adjustment does not apply to any existing maintenance contracts for SAP Standard Support closed before July 15, 2013."
