Polyester fiber prices have more or less dropped in China, India and Pakistan in November with margins however moving into different directions at spinning mills, if considering 100% PSF yarns. Spinners have begun digesting inventories before being able to lower their offers. The yarn/fiber spread has improved in China and India, however dropping in Pakistan. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

Chinese shipments have plunged this year on EU's clothing import market, with rival countries taking advantage of this historical decline. Bangladesh is the more obvious winner, now ranking first in many HS 4-digit categories, but other origins are also benefiting from the shift our of China, mostly due to their duty-free access to the European Union.
