USPTO just granted Apple a patent for a facial recognition feature that could unlock a mobile device as well as control how it works. That's right, Apple just got a patent so our iPhones can look at us all the time. I just got used to the idea of using my fingerprint to unlock an iPhone 5s, but now my face? I'm vaguely uneasy about the potential for dark uses this sort of technology opens up.

China Mobile, Apple sign iPhone agreement - report

(Telecompaper) China Mobile has signed a deal with Apple to sell iPhones on its network, reports the Wall Street Journal citing an unnamed person familiar with the situation. The launch of iPhones on the China Mobile network is expected to start later in December, around the time of a China Mobile conference scheduled for 18 December in Guangzhou, according to people familiar with the operator's plans. The company will use the event to announce a brand for its 4G mobile network. Apple declined to comment on the report.
