German fertilizer company K+S AG says its retail shareholders are against a multibillion-dollar takeover offer from Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. A survey of the company's retail, or non-institutional, shareholders released by K+S on Monday showed that 84 per cent of respondents were against PotashCorp's current proposal. PotashCorp is offering 41 euros a share for the company, valuing it at about 7.9 billion euros or C$11.3 billion.

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. has once again been rejected by K+S AG about its multibillion-dollar takeover offer despite revising its bid for the German fertilizer producer. K+S AG said Friday on its website that PotashCorp sent an unsolicited letter which included a business combination agreement to address the interests of workers and local communities.

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. has reaffirmed its intention to acquire K+S AG despite repeated rebuffs from the German potash producer. "We are continuing to seek a constructive dialogue with K+S to pursue a friendly transaction," said PotashCorp president and CEO Jochen Tilk in a quarterly earnings conference call.

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. says it earned US$417 million in its latest quarter, down from a year ago. The fertilizer producer, which reports its results in U.S. dollars, says the profit amounted to 50 cents per share, down from $472 million or 56 cents per share a year ago.

K+S AG is rejecting a takeover bid by Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc., headed by Jochen Tilk, shown at the company's annual general meeting in Saskatoon in 2014. The chief executive of K+S AG suspects Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. will shut down much of his company's European production if it gains control of it.
