Telstra net profit jumps 21.7% to AUD 2.1 bln in H1

(Telecompaper) Revenue from Australian operator Telstra's mobile business grew by 9.6 percent to AUD 5.3 billion for the six months ended 31 December 2014. Fixed data revenue increased by 7.8 percent, while fixed voice revenue fell 6.9 percent. Overall, revenue from Telstra's fixed business declined 1.7 percent, to AUD 3.5 billion in the 6-month period. Revenue from Telstra's Network Applications and Services (NAS) product line rose 18.1 percent to AUD 1 billion. International NAS revenues increased by 28.1 percent to AUD 41 million.

Brazil's Sao Martinho profit jumps 66 pct on sugar and energy sales

Brazil's Sao Martinho sugar and ethanol group said October-to-December net profit grew 66 percent from a year ago to 54.6 million reais ($19.7 million), crediting improved sales of sugar and biomass electricity.

BP beats expectations on surprise Russian profit, stock jumps

Oil major BP beat expectations for the fourth quarter of 2014 thanks to a surprise profit from its stake in Russian oil giant Rosneft while taking a $3.6 billion impairment charge and cutting spending due to low oil prices. The firm reported underlying replacement cost profit at $2.2 billion versus expectations of $1.5 billion.
