The company announced Monday it was partnering with a subsidiary of the Kuwait Petroleum Corp. to study the feasibility of the plant. The proposed facility would take 35,000 barrels a day of propane from western Canada and process it into 800,000 tonnes of plastic pellets.

Gas-fired power plant going up in Lordstown, $890 million project will use Ohio and PA shale gas

Developers of a very large gas-fired power plant have finalized an $890 million financing package and are expected to begin construction immediately. The Lordstown Energy Center will generate 949-megawatts of electricity -- more than the Davis-Besse nuclear power plant near Toledo -- and enough power to supply 750,000 to 800,000 homes.

Toxic Exide Plant May Have Poisoned Children Living Nearby

Ending the week on a particularly grim note, the State Department of Public Health released a new analysis Friday that shows that children living within a mile of the site of the former Exide battery recycling plant in Vernon have significantly higher amounts of lead in their blood than those living farther away. The study found that 3.58 percent of these children had elevated lead levels in their system, as opposed to 2.41 percent living within 4.5 miles of the facility and 1.95 percent in all of Los Angeles County, as reported by the LA Times .
