It's been 30 years since the Bhopal disaster, but the U.S. company responsible for it has still not made adequate amends. On Dec. 3, 1984, a gas leak at a pesticide plant owned by Union Carbide, a U.S. multinational, in the central Indian city of Bhopal caused the deaths of several thousand residents within a matter of days.

Bloomberg: The world must halt fossil-fuel emissions within the next six decades to stave off irreversible impacts that may stem from a warming planet, the United Nations said. Sometime between 2055 and 2070, any carbon dioxide produced as the result of burning oil, coal and natural gas should should be compensated with measures that suck the gas out of the atmosphere, the UN Environment Program said today in its annual Emissions Gap report. Those may include planting trees or using carbon-capture technology....
Saint John real estate market worst in decades, experts say

Close to 10 per cent of the homes listed for sale in the greater Saint John area this year have been foreclosed on by banks or other lenders. Hodges Hamm, a long-time real estate agent and broker, says 210 of the Saint John Real Estate Board listings, so far this year, are foreclosures.

First Japan passenger jet in 4 decades rolling out

A "rolling out" ceremony in Nagoya, central Japan on Saturday will unveil the long awaited Mitsubishi Regional Jet, or MRJ, a fuel-efficient lightweight carbon-fiber composite jet. Major Japanese machinery maker Mitsubishi Heavy Industries says the MRJ90 will seat 88 people, while the MRJ70 seats 76, and the planned MRJ100X will have 100 seats.
